น.ส.ผกายมาศ เวียร์ร่า ประธานสมาคมวัฒนธรรมและเศรษฐกิจไทย-เมียนมาร์ (พม่า) สาขาเชียงราย เปิดเผยว่า ขณะนี้ธุรกิจการบินท่าขี้เหล็กของพม่า ตรงข้าม อ.แม่สาย จ.เชียงราย กำลังขยายตัวอย่างน่าจับตา
ล่าสุด มีสายการบินหลักมาเปิดให้บริการในเส้นทางท่าขี้เหล็ก-ลาเฉียว ชายแดนมูเซ-รุ่ยลี่ (พม่า-จีน) เพิ่มอีก 3 สายการบิน คือ Yadanarpon airlines (MDY), Asia Wing (YK) และ Yangon Airways (YA) และสายการบินของรัฐบาล Myanmar Airlines (BAC) โดยคาดว่าในช่วงวันหยุดยาวนี้จะมีเงินสะพัดไม่ต่ำกว่า 10 ล้านบาท ได้ประโยชน์ทั้งการค้าขาย โรงแรม ร้านอาหาร รถเช่า ร้านขายของที่ระลึก ฯลฯ
“รวมแล้วท่าขี้เหล็กมีสายการบินมาให้บริการไม่ต่ำกว่า 7-8 สายการบินแล้ว โดยบินเชื่อมโยงไปยังเมืองสำคัญต่างๆ ทั้งกรุงย่างกุ้ง เชียงตุง ตองจี ลาเฉียว ใช้เวลาเดินทางประมาณ 1 ชั่วโมง และคาดว่าในอนาคตอาจจะมีสายการบินจากต่างประเทศเข้ามาให้บริการด้วย เพราะทางรัฐบาลพม่ากำลังพยายามพัฒนาสนามบินให้ได้มาตรฐานอย่างต่อเนื่อง”
