สมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี เสด็จเป็นองค์ประธานเปิดงานสัมมนานักวิจัย และโครงการสัมมนายุทธศาสตร์ไทย-จีน ครั้งที่ ๕ ซึ่งสภาวิจัยแห่งชาติ และสมาคมวัฒนธรรมและเศรษฐกิจไทย-จีน เป็นเจ้าภาพฝ่ายไทย และมหาวิทยาลัยหัวเฉียว ประเทศจีน และสำนักงานกิจการชาวจีนโพ้นทะเล เป็นเจ้าภาพฝ่ายจีน ในวันที่ ๑๗ สิงหาคม ๒๕๕๙ เวลา ๑๕.๐๐ น.
ที่ประชุมคณะกรรมการศูนย์วิจัยยุทธศาสตร์ไทย-จีน สภาวิจัยแห่งชาติ มีมติให้เชิญนายสมคิด จาตุศรีพิทักษ์ รองนายกรัฐมนตรีด้านเศรษฐกิจ และอดีตนายกสมาคมวัฒนธรรมและเศรษฐกิจไทย-จีน เป็น keynote speaker
