นายไวยวิชญ์ มานะมนตรีกุล หัวหน้าสำนักเลขาธิการ สมาคมวัฒนธรรมและเศรษฐกิจไทย-จีน เปิดเผยว่าการประชุมคณะกรรมการกระชับความสัมพันธ์ทางเศรษฐกิจไทย-จีน ครั้งที่สาม ระดับชาติ ที่มีรองนายกรัฐมนตรีด้านเศรษฐกิจเป็นประธานของแต่ละฝ่าย จะเปิดประชุมเพื่อกำหนดกรอบความร่วมมือและกำหนดแผนงานความร่วมมือทางด้านเศรษฐกิจไทย-จีน ที่กรุงเทพฯ ระหว่างวันที่ 16-17 ธันวาคม ศกนี้
ในการประชุมดังกล่าว รัฐบาลจีนได้มอบหมายให้นายหวังหย่ง มนตรีแห่งรัฐ และรับผิดชอบการลงทุนตามยุทธศาสตร์เส้นทางสายไหมหรืออี้ต้าย อี้ลู่ ในนามของประธานคณะกรรมการโครงสร้างพื้นฐานแห่งประเทศจีน ซึ่งเชื่อมโยงอยู่กับธนาคารโครงสร้างพื้นฐานหรือ AIIB จะเป็นหัวหน้าคณะผู้แทนฝ่ายจีนนำคณะมาประชุม โดยฝ่ายไทยมีนายสมคิด จาตุศรีพิทักษ์ รองนายกรัฐมนตรีและคณะกรรมการกระชับความสัมพันธ์ทางเศรษฐกิจไทย-จีน เข้าร่วมประชุม
ในการเดินทางมาประเทศไทยครั้งนี้ นายหวังหย่ง มีกำหนดการไปร่วมพิธีเปิดศูนย์ควบคุมการเดินรถไฟที่เชียงรากน้อยด้วย โดยในพิธีดังกล่าวจะมีประธานคณะกรรมการบริษัทการรถไฟแห่งประเทศจีน เดินทางมาร่วมพิธีด้วย
